Mr. Paul Stecina is serving his first year as principal of Knowledge Quest Academy and brings 28 years of educational experience. His career includes fourteen years teaching science, math, and technology, and fourteen years in school administration. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs and a Master’s degree in Education, with an emphasis in Instruction and Curriculum, from the University of Colorado Boulder. He completed his principal licensure program through Colorado State University. Mr. Stecina believes schools should cultivate curiosity, inspire a sense of wonder about the world, and help students develop the skills and character needed to become lifelong learners and responsible citizens.
He is grateful for the respectful, thoughtful culture at Knowledge Quest Academy and values the strong relationships that ensure every student is known and supported. Mr. Stecina believes education should help students discover their strengths, build healthy relationships, and develop the confidence to pursue their goals. He lives in Frederick with his wife, Lisa, and one of their two adult children; another lives in Toronto and works in radio and film audio production. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family, his dogs, and exploring creative interests such as video editing and motion graphics.
